Mrs. Kelli T. Smith
"Do what you love, and love what you do."
I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world to have the opportunity to teach what I love; music.
I am a 2007 graduate of Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, majoring in percussion. I am a versatile instrumentalist and have served as a musician in the Grand Rapids area since 2000. I also taught a few percussion classes and jazz camp classes at Aquinas College!
I began my pursuit of my master's degree from
The American Band College of Sam Houston State University
of
Ashland, Oregon in 2010.
In 2010, and I played clarinet during my session out west to try to better my abilities. In 2011, I played the alto saxophone in hopes of learning to be a stronger player. I strive to be able to play every instrument as well as I can. My feeling is that I should be able to do what is expected of my students. Also, playing multiple instruments is FUN!
I am in my 6th year of teaching here at Wayland Union, while this will be my 10th year of teaching overall. I am excited to be able to continue building a solid foundation for our student musicians as they explore the world of music.
I have a 14 month old son, and have been married for 11 years! I enjoy camping, kayaking, reading, and knitting. Movies are s staple in our house, with Star Wars being a family favorite!
